Spouse contributions

You are here

A good way to boost your family's superannuation savings is to make after-tax contributions to your spouse's super fund.

You may be eligible to claim an 18% tax offset on the contributions made up to $3000 if your spouse isn't working or their assessable income and reportable fringe benefits is less than $10,800 per annum. The maximum rebate allowed is $540.

There are tax rules that dictate who can make spouse contributions, so we encourage our members to speak to their financial planner before considering this super-saving strategy.
